Description

Each year when Jake travels west to search for the gemstones that he uses in his jewelry, he makes a point of stopping at a set of abandoned silver mines in a remote section of Nevada.  These mines have a lot of Malachite, Azurite and Chrysocolla left over from the mining days, but in addition to these gemstones, the miners left behind a lot of core samples.  Core samples are created when miners drill down with a hollow tube and bring up a section of rock, then cut the rock open to see if it contains the silver that they are searching for.  The core samples are labeled and cataloged so the miners know what they found in each spot.  But when the mines were abandoned, the core samples were left behind and Jake has found that the minerals in the samples can form beautiful patterns to use in his jewelry.  This piece has some green Malachite in it and along with other minerals you can see the silver contained in this stone.  The setting is copper with a sterling silver bead wire around the bezel as an accent.
