Emerald Pendant 4
Emerald in the Matrix!
Here is a stunning piece of bright green emerald that was found by Jake at the Crabtree Mine in North Carolina. This mine was once owned by Tiffanys, but the miners struck a spring while digging and the shaft filled up with water. Tiffanys decided that it wasn’t economically feasible to continue to operate the mine, so they abandoned it, but the public is allowed to dig in the tailings for a fee. Jake likes to stop here each year and dig, with some years being better than others. Its not easy to find a good stone, but the rock that produced this piece was a good one. You can see the clusters of pure emerald surrounded by the black quartz matrix, for a stunning look. The stone is set in sterling silver with a full silver back and a scalloped sterling bezel.
