A Little Arizona Fire!

Category:

Description

Here is a cool little piece of Fire Agate that Jake found in the desert in Eastern Arizona.  Jake likes to hit this public rockhounding area every year to look for fire agates, but they are very tough to find, especially a good one that is worth the time and effort to cut and polish.  Fire Agates are very difficult to work, as they must be ground and polished with a hand tool due to the color being located at different levels in the stone, and it can take several days to finish a fire agate.  You can see from the uneven surface of this stone that it was carved by hand by Jake, and there is fire throughout the stone.  The stone is set with sterling silver square wire framing the back, with prongs to hold the stone in place.
