Wire Wrap Core Sample Pendant 3
Intricate Patterns of Color!
When Jake takes his western trip each year, one of the spots he always hits is an abandoned mine in Nevada. The tailings there are full of malachite and azurite with an occasional bit of chrysocolla and turquoise. But one of Jake’s favorite things there are the core samples left behind by the miners. A core sample is created when the miners drill down to the level they are searching and bring up a sample of the rock from that level. They then cut the rock open to see if it contains the precious metals they are looking for, like gold, silver or copper. Many of the core samples Jake finds have small amounts of silver from this mine, along with areas of malachite, azurite and other gemstones. This one has an array of colors and is wrapped in a combination of black and copper wire.
