Fire Opal Post Earrings – SOLD

A Special Pair of Opals!

These two fire opals were found by Jake at the Spencer Opal Mine in Idaho.  Jake stops there every year on his trip out west to search for gemstones, and it’s one of his favorite spots because there aren’t many places the public can dig for precious fire opal.  Every year Jake brings home a lot of rocks that contain fire opal, but it’s not until the rocks are cut open and the opal is exposed and polished that you know if you’ve got a good one.  For every stone you cut and keep, there are ten that you throw out!  These two stones have amazing color with a ton of fire including blue, red, yellow, orange, green and purple but they are not identical and have slightly different shapes and sizes, which is the way Jake wanted them.  The setting is sterling silver with fine silver scalloped bezels and sterling posts.
