Malachite Pendant 10
Some Green From The Abandoned Mine!
This piece of Malachite is from one of Jake’s favorite collecting spots, an abandoned silver mine in Nevada. There is a ton of Malachite and Azurite there, so much that sections of the mountains are bright blue and green. But, it’s not easy to find a piece with a high enough grade of gem that it can be cut and polished. When Jake cut the rock that contained this stone more than half of the stone was too porous and crumbling to cut into a finished piece. But the remainder produced this great looking stone. The stone has a streak of bright green Malachite running through the brown matrix rock. The setting is square copper wire framing the back with prongs to hold the stone in place.
